Pioneering Role of
BDPC
In Bangladesh, BDPC has played
pioneering role at the national level in addressing a number
of issues. The organization felt that there were many issues
that needed somebody to raise voice about and take initiative
to address the relevant needs. As there was no "somebody"
in immediate sight, BDPC decided to work on these issues as
a pioneer. Areas where BDPC has played pioneering role in building
local capacity include disaster management training, non-profit
board management training, environmental management training,
practice and application of PRA, etc. BDPC has also played a
pioneering role in conducting some of the research studies that
include drought, divorce, suicides, social impact of river bank
erosion, impact of illegal small arms and violence, etc. BDPC
has published a Parental Guide on non-commercial sexual abuse
of children in Bangladesh. This publication is also the first
of its kind in the country.
